Today marks a truly special five-year anniversary for The Spencer House, a milestone that intertwines with a remarkable coincidence. Five years ago today, on June 22, 2020, the very first women’s Spencer House opened its doors in Ventura, California, welcoming what we affectionately called the “Fab Five” — five incredible women ready to embark on their journeys of healing and recovery.
It’s with immense pride and joy that we share all five of those original occupants are not just sober, but are living beautiful, thriving lives. They’ve grown tremendously, a testament to their strength and the supportive environment fostered within The Spencer House. When we first envisioned and opened these homes, our guiding principle was to create a sanctuary for healing, and it has undeniably fulfilled that promise.
Transforming these houses into the warm, inviting spaces our exceptional clients now call home is a labor of love. They certainly don’t start out as beautiful as they become once filled with the energy and spirit of those within their walls. We’ve witnessed countless success stories unfold within and beyond our doors, each one a powerful affirmation of our mission. Adding to the profound significance of today, it is also the birthday of Spencer Turner, the beloved individual in whose memory and legacy The Spencer House was founded. It’s an extraordinary and uniquely random coincidence that the very first Spencer House opened its doors on his birthday. The serendipity deepens even further, as his only son’s birthday falls on the very next day. This remarkable alignment of dates truly underscores the special spirit that guides all that we do at The Spencer House
