❤️ Why Grand Haven Means So Much to Me

I’ve been wanting to do something like this since I was in high school.

Even back then, I knew I wanted to help young people—not just tell them what they should do, but actually give them the tools, support, guidance, and safe space to figure out who they are and who they want to become.

As I’ve gotten older, that dream never left me.

That’s why Grand Haven Residence means so much to me.

My goal is to help create a place where young adults can walk through the door and know that they have people in their corner. A place where they can learn how to budget, work, communicate, prepare for interviews, manage responsibilities, pursue their education or career goals, and ultimately transition into a life they can be proud of.

Through Next Gen — Preparing the Next Generation for the Real World, I want to help bridge the gap between “you’re an adult now” and actually being prepared for adulthood.

Because turning 18 doesn’t automatically teach you:

💰 How to manage your money
🏦 How to build credit
💼 How to find and keep a job
📝 How to create a resume
🎤 How to interview confidently
🏠 How to prepare for independent housing
🍳 How to manage a household
🗣️ How to advocate for yourself
❤️ How to believe in yourself when life gets hard

Sometimes people don’t need someone to rescue them.

They need someone to teach them, encourage them, listen to them, and give them an opportunity.

And that’s where I come in. ❤️

My role at Grand Haven will focus on Marketing, Administration & Program Development, working alongside our team to help build the systems behind the vision—from connecting with community resources and creating partnerships to helping develop the Next Gen programming and making sure Grand Haven is presented to the community the way it deserves to be.

But beyond my title, I’m here because this has been a dream of mine for years.

I want to be part of the reason someone says:

“I didn’t know how I was going to make it… but somebody believed in me.”

I don’t expect Grand Haven to fix everything.

I want it to be a starting point.

A place where young adults can catch their breath, learn, grow, make mistakes, try again, and prepare for their next chapter.

This dream started when I was a teenager.

Now I’m blessed to have the opportunity to build it with my family.
