A Dream of Homeownership Becomes a Reality
For Dixie Vestal, owning a home was a dream she had worked toward—and thanks to RuralEdge’s Shared Equity Homeownership Program, that dream became possible.
With a $78,250 down payment assistance grant from RuralEdge, combined with a first mortgage from Community National Bank, Dixie was able to purchase a farmhouse with an attached two-car garage on three acres in Newark. The program not only helped her buy a home of her own, but also allowed her family to remain in their children’s school district, which was a top priority.
This was Dixie’s first home purchase on her own, and closing day was filled with emotion and pride. “I’m so proud of myself,” Dixie shared. “This wouldn’t have been possible without RuralEdge’s support and the Shared Equity Program.”
