💜 RECOVERY NEEDS SOMEWHERE TO HAPPEN. 💜
We often tell someone struggling with addiction:
“You need to change your life.”
But think about what we’re actually asking them to do.
Stop using.
Change the people they spend time with.
Change where they go.
Find employment.
Repair relationships.
Learn new coping skills.
Attend treatment or meetings.
Manage their mental health.
Rebuild trust.
Figure out transportation.
Pay bills.
Stay sober.
And somehow do all of that while potentially returning every night to the same environment where their addiction grew.
💜 Environment matters. 💜
Recovery housing isn’t simply a roof over someone’s head.
At its best, it creates something many people haven’t had in a very long time:
A safe place to practice living differently.
A place where recovery is normal.
Where someone notices when you don’t come home.
Where accountability and support coexist.
Where people understand why 30 days matters, and exactly why the 28 days aren’t enough.
Where you’re surrounded by others trying to build something instead of people expecting you to fail.
Recovery housing doesn’t give someone recovery.
The person still has to do incredibly hard work.
But we can stop making that work unnecessarily harder.
Sometimes changing your life starts with having somewhere safe to build the new one.
That’s why recovery housing matters.
That’s why standards matter.
That’s why community support matters.
And that’s why Still Waters Recovery exists.
💜 Recovery needs more than a second chance. Sometimes it needs a safe place for that second chance to grow. 💜
